EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT

I've had my eye on this chair for quite a while now.  Believe it or not, I found it at a local nursery way back in the early Fall when I went to purchase my garden Mums.

It was 'LOVE' at first sight (sigh)!

There isn't anything about this chair that I dislike.

It has a beautifully 'aged' chippy finished on it!

The fabric is lovely.  It's very neutral with a small stripe pattern.

I 'visited' this chair on several occasions.  Do any of you do that when you're undecided about a purchase?  I went back to the store three different times, driving out of my way with the intention of buying it.  I would seek it out in the store and sit on it (to try it on for size) but the truth be told, I didn't need it so I held off.  Christmas is NOT the time for personal frivolous purchases!

But then Hubs came to the rescue!!!!!  He offered to buy it as my early Christmas gift (and because quite frankly, he was sick and tired of listening to me moan & groan about the chair).  So back we went, and on a day where all the items in the store were 20% off, and the chair finally found its new home with me!

I finally started on my holiday decor this weekend.  This is the first thing that came out of the tote!  He was laying on top of the pile of decorations, waiting for his time to be displayed and SHINE!

He was a gift to me several years ago from my sister-in-law and he remains very special & sentimental!
Hubs does not like him.  Maybe it's the not-so-friendly expression he wears on his face.  When Hubs saw him hanging from my light he commented something like, "Oh no, not that thing again"!  THING  ... he is not a THING, he is a scowling jester!  The holidays evoke so many memories (lol)!

I am so excited, tomorrow evening I will select the winner of my
It's not too late to enter if you're new to this blog.  One more day!
GOOD LUCK!

Cheers ~ Lisa

  8. Lisa, is that the chair you mentioned. It is beautiful. I can see you sitting in it and watching gifts being opened. I laughed about the grumpy jester. I used to have this nutcracker and it had the strangest look, one year I had to finally give in and just let it go...that was many years ago...it was the strangest thing. lol. thanks for visiting my blog today.

  9. What an AWESMOME Christmas present! You are so lucky no one snagged that in the meantime. The white cabinet you have next to it is pretty amazing too...Do I see blue in the interior?

In regards to your comment to me about my brain never resting....you called it. I swear it is actually a problem though that I could see myself needing therapy for one day. Even when I was sick with the flu over the holiday's, I was still in decorating mode.

BTW, I think the jester is kinda cute!

    Take care,
    Lisa

  12. Lisa lucky you! I love the chair and to find one that fits so perfectly! Early Christmas presents can be sooo fun!

I had to laugh a little over your "story". A few years ago I came across an old mirror. It probably came off of a dresser but I wanted it for my dining room... to hang over my buffet. Well every Sunday before my son's home hockey game we'd go get coffee and zip through the antique store... I'd go by the booth with "my mirror" and visit it! Then one day, it was GONE! Christmas morning came and all the gifts were opened.. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that there was NO mirror. A little while later, my husband brought "my mirror" in... he figured I already knew he'd bought it when I saw it was gone! It hangs in my dining room and is one of my favorite things!

ENJOY that chair! Can't wait to see your place all decorated for the holidays.

  15. I love your new gift.
    your husband is too funny!
He sounds like my husband, never mind the fact that something is sentimental and or beautiful..if it resembles anything that might look like a clown or jester, forget it!
    Have a great night!

  19. You found that chair at a nursery? I think I'm shopping at the wrong nursery! What's not to like about it, it's absolutely gorgeous! Enjoy!

We were told Callie was a Border Collie/Lab cross and she has the border collie markings on her face and the BC tail, and her fur is sooo soft and curly, and repels the water like a lab but we don't actually see a lot of lab in her. Some people have also said they thought she had some Australian Shepherd in her, but the brown in her face is hard to place. She's certainly unique and quite the snuggler!

  21. Hi Lisa,
I love your chair and I am so happy for you that you finally got it! I do things like that all the time when I see something I want. I go back over and over again. If it's still there, then it's meant for me! At least that's how I percieve it to be. LOL! Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy your visits. Have a wonderful week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  23. Great find ! Love the chair. My husband probably won't notice the buggy . I usually find some old orphan dolls at Canton. This is the first time I left without one. I have enough really!
