VINTAGE CHRISTMAS

I purchased my first Poinsettia plants of the season!

They have a pretty pink flower.  Poinsettias no longer come in the 'standard' red colour but are available in a wide variety of shades.

With names like Candy Cane, Jingle Bells & Monet ~ there is something to please everyone!

Last weekend I attended a large Christmas decorating show with my Mum.  I'm sure like most of you, I have an ABUNDANCE of Christmas decor so I was sure to keep my purchases specific to vintage items.  These are so sought after now that not only are they hard to come by, but when you find something you want, it can be quite pricey.

I couldn't pass by this wee Putz-Style glitter house!
What is very unique about this house is that it has been altered on the bottom to include the addition of a battery-operated LED kit.  When you flick the switch to "ON" it puts on this amazing light show, changing to every colour in the rainbow.  Very cute!
I also came across this box of pipe cleaner Santas.

Just take a look at the expression on Santa's face!  It looks like he has seen a ghost ~ perhaps the Ghost of Christmas Past!  These Saint Nicks are precious.

Two bottle brush styled snowflakes.

They are both missing some of their beads but that will be an easy fix.

Here's another Putz house.

I love the bottle brush tree and the 'smoke' coming out of the chimney!

There is a pretty glittered rose on the base.

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner.  I still have boxes of decorations to unpack and trees to dress!  Not to mention all of my baking.
Yikes ~ I better get a move on!

To all of my American friends ~ I wish you all a very warm and wonderful Thanksgiving!  Be safe & have fun!

Don't forget about my GIVEAWAY!!!

Cheers ~ Lisa

  2. Oh Lisa Sweetie...
What a gorgeous share. I love the shades of pink poinsettia that you purchased and it looks so delightful in that dark sleigh. I love it. I hope you are going to use it for a center piece for your Thanksgiving dinner, what better way to ride in to Christmas. I love it.

Your Putz houses are just precious, especially with the addition of the lights, in the one. That is a really cute idea. I love that pink glittered rose on the one base. So delightful.

Well sweetie, have a beautiful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for your friendship. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  6. LOVE it all Lisa! Those little pipe cleaner Santas are fabulous... but I think the Putz houses are my favorite. When I was young, a friend of our family had a whole village of little white putz houses complete with the little lead/metal people. She always set the village up with a mirror and "snow" and some of the little people were ice skaters. It is one of my favorite memories!

I also love the poinsettia. We have a local greenhouse that produces thousands of them to ship all over. It's kind of fun to check them out in November because when you walk into the store area at the front you can look back and it is a SEA of them. They even have a peachy looking color!

    Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes!

  17. Lisa, those little glitter houses are ADORABLE!! I have to admit, since I'm now working 2 jobs, I won't be doing too much decorating this year. Just not enough time. In fact, it looks like I might be working every single day in December, which is ok... I'll hopefully bank some extra funds! :-)
