TAG ..... I'm it!
SOMETHING OLD
This is a beautiful "old" oil painting on canvas. I purchased it this summer for $5.00 and I love everything about it! It now hangs in the master bedroom.
SOMETHING NEW
I Believe! I just picked up this sweet little treasure yesterday so it qualifies for my something "New". She's a petite snowWOMAN holding a glitter banner and waving her star-tipped wand!
She's from the "Vintage Collections" line by Bethany Lowe ~ an artist who designs and creates vintage-style folk art collectibles.
SOMETHING BORROWED
Oh yeah ... check these out! And there's a couple more stacks where these came from! How's this for "Neighbourly"!
My darling peep from across the street shares the same interests as I do, including an addiction to magazines! We swap & share constantly and as this is my newest batch, they certainly qualify for "Borrowed" (maybe)!!! Although I always intend to "Borrow" from Doreen, the odd magazine gets 'eaten' by one of the dogs (lol)!
SOMETHING BLUE
I'm going to share my blue painted grandfather clock. This is how the clock looked when I purchased it from Craigslist. Faux oak wood, shiny brass weights and pendulum. It wasn't a 'real' grandfather clock but a cheap knockoff that retails for a few hundred dollars.
And here it is now! I took out the glass and replaced it with wire, which I aged with 'rust' coloured paint. I also removed the weights because they didn't really work, they were just hanging there for show and I really wanted the pendulum to stand out. I sprayed the brass pendulum gloss black along with the knob on the case and I wallpapered the interior of the case with a french inspired wallpaper. I painted the entire clock a grey-blue shade and then applied a glaze over top.
Well ... this has been fun! If you've never visited Cindy's Blog ~ DesignLove ~ you should go have a look! Her ability to design is incredible and she is married to one of the handiest hubbies I've seen in Blogland! They make a dynamic duo! Thanks Cindy for playing tag with me!
Cheers ~ Lisa~

Hi Lisa, Can I have your clock? It's awesome! I talked a friend into buying one (I think it was just like yours) and we planned to paint it but never got around to it. I'm going to show her yours so she can see what a difference it makes! You did a great job. I love all your changes -- the color, the wire (would not have thought of that), the wallpaper (or that) and removing the weights. Really awesome!
ReplyDeleteLisa your clock turned out fantastic! I wish I had some of your talent!

That clock is out of a magazine! I usually have a vision, but never even thought a grandfather clock could look so shabby chic. That piece is phenominal!
