EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT

I've had my eye on this chair for quite a while now.  Believe it or not, I found it at a local nursery way back in the early Fall when I went to purchase my garden Mums.

It was 'LOVE' at first sight (sigh)!

There isn't anything about this chair that I dislike.

It has a beautifully 'aged' chippy finished on it!

The fabric is lovely.  It's very neutral with a small stripe pattern.

I 'visited' this chair on several occasions.  Do any of you do that when you're undecided about a purchase?  I went back to the store three different times, driving out of my way with the intention of buying it.  I would seek it out in the store and sit on it (to try it on for size) but the truth be told, I didn't need it so I held off.  Christmas is NOT the time for personal frivolous purchases!

But then Hubs came to the rescue!!!!!  He offered to buy it as my early Christmas gift (and because quite frankly, he was sick and tired of listening to me moan & groan about the chair).  So back we went, and on a day where all the items in the store were 20% off, and the chair finally found its new home with me!

I finally started on my holiday decor this weekend.  This is the first thing that came out of the tote!  He was laying on top of the pile of decorations, waiting for his time to be displayed and SHINE!

He was a gift to me several years ago from my sister-in-law and he remains very special & sentimental!
Hubs does not like him.  Maybe it's the not-so-friendly expression he wears on his face.  When Hubs saw him hanging from my light he commented something like, "Oh no, not that thing again"!  THING  ... he is not a THING, he is a scowling jester!  The holidays evoke so many memories (lol)!

I am so excited, tomorrow evening I will select the winner of my
It's not too late to enter if you're new to this blog.  One more day!
GOOD LUCK!

VINTAGE CHRISTMAS

I purchased my first Poinsettia plants of the season!

They have a pretty pink flower.  Poinsettias no longer come in the 'standard' red colour but are available in a wide variety of shades.

With names like Candy Cane, Jingle Bells & Monet ~ there is something to please everyone!

Last weekend I attended a large Christmas decorating show with my Mum.  I'm sure like most of you, I have an ABUNDANCE of Christmas decor so I was sure to keep my purchases specific to vintage items.  These are so sought after now that not only are they hard to come by, but when you find something you want, it can be quite pricey.

I couldn't pass by this wee Putz-Style glitter house!
What is very unique about this house is that it has been altered on the bottom to include the addition of a battery-operated LED kit.  When you flick the switch to "ON" it puts on this amazing light show, changing to every colour in the rainbow.  Very cute!
I also came across this box of pipe cleaner Santas.

Just take a look at the expression on Santa's face!  It looks like he has seen a ghost ~ perhaps the Ghost of Christmas Past!  These Saint Nicks are precious.

Two bottle brush styled snowflakes.

They are both missing some of their beads but that will be an easy fix.

Here's another Putz house.

I love the bottle brush tree and the 'smoke' coming out of the chimney!

There is a pretty glittered rose on the base.

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner.  I still have boxes of decorations to unpack and trees to dress!  Not to mention all of my baking.
Yikes ~ I better get a move on!

To all of my American friends ~ I wish you all a very warm and wonderful Thanksgiving!  Be safe & have fun!

Don't forget about my GIVEAWAY!!!

WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

Okay, we're not quite there yet, but soon to be!

I purchased this piece of salvage from a store called Artifacts, hoping to turn it into a coat rack.  I have been on a quest to find an unusual or different type of hook.

Well, I finally found them ~ all the way in sunny California, of all places!

I purchased them from Courtney's online store "French Nest Market Interiors".

Pretty shabby rose hooks!

When my package arrived from the French Nest Market I was delighted to find a sweet smelling scented French Soap!  Oh La-La, an extra gift from my friend!  However did she know I love to soak in the tub for longggg periods of time?

When I finally finished bathing ... we hung up our new coat rack!

Last week one of my newest purchases arrived (this time from Connecticut) -
A beautiful hand-painted sign by Lisa at Serendipity Chic Decor.

The colours were fabulous ~ the snowflakes were perfect!
I knew where this was going and what it was going to be paired with!

**My "Winter" vignette**

And this can be displayed all winter as it's not too "Christmasy".
