CHRISTMAS 2010

The past week or so has all been a blur but here is a brief recap of the events.

I received this beautiful giveaway prize in the mail that I won from Marie's Maison.

It is a ceramic cupcake that holds a pot scrubber!  Adorable!  Love it!  Thanks Marie.

My colleagues decided to hold our office Christmas Party in-house this year as opposed to going to a restaurant.

My good blogging buddy, Lisa, from Serendipity Chic Decor lost her blog, somehow, in Cyberspace.  She was distraught, as you can well imagine, after all the hard work she put into her blog.  I'm certain a lot of you already know of Lisa, she made my beautiful Winter sign.

Within a week she had a new blog up and running so please go take a look at her new blog.  Lisa is a makeover guru and design diva whose blog is always a delight to visit.  You can find Lisa and all her great makeovers and projects HERE at her new blog, Serendipity Chic Design!

Although we didn't host Christmas dinner at our house this year, I still baked up a storm.  I always take the desserts to whichever family member is hosting Christmas.  I made shortbread cookies, peppermint meltaways, carrot cake, maple syrup tarts, two different flavours of fudge, peanut butter cookies, molasses cookies, 7-layer bars and raspberry squares.

My Dad was released from the hospital on the 23rd of December.  The hospital sent as many patients as possible home for the holidays.  With assistance, he was able to attend Christmas dinner.

Food, fun & family was plentiful!

Boxing Day was when our guests arrived.  Hubs has four adult children who came to spend a few days with us.  We visited Hub's Mother's house in the morning for brunch and then back to our place for dinner & gifts.  We also spent an afternoon at the movies and held our first ever bowling tournament.

Up for grabs .... my vintage wooden bowling pin!

And no, it didn't come home with us!  Darn it ... maybe next time!

So, in summary, the past week or so has been spent cooking, cleaning, eating, baking, driving, laughing, dog walking, bowling, smiling, doing TONS of laundry, visiting and all related activities associated with the holidays!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas 2010!

Cheers - Lisa

  1. Lisa ~ great pictures!
First of all I am glad
    that your dad was there
    with you for your holiday.
WOW you are a baking guru.
    So many things, so much
    variety...you could have
    opened a bakery this week!
    We also had our office
    covered dish luncheon and
I think you have so much
more variety of food and more
    time to socialize than going
to a restaurant. Hubs & I both work
    in education so we're lucky
to have the same stretch of
    vacation days. We don't go
back to work until Jan. 3rd
    so we're having wonderful lazy
    days...naps...TV...football
    naps...and did I mention naps?
    HUGS my friend

  12. Wow! It sounds like you were very, very busy and had a wonderful time. I love the bowling tournament idea, how fun!

So glad to hear your Dad was released from the hospital before Christmas. I know how stressful that can be. Both of my grandparents have been in and out of the hospital several times this month and my grandmother was in over Christmas. We had no family get together this year as my poor mom and aunt are very stressed and overwhelmed taking care of my grandparents.

  13. Aww! You are to kind to me! What a sweet surprise.

I loved looking at those pics of your family having a great time...The spread of food is making me really hungry despite the fact that it is almost 1 AM.

I am so glad your dad is home and know he will make a speedy recovery. How can he not with you as a daughter!

    Take care,
    Lisa

  16. Dear Lisa,
I was so thrilled to read that your Dad was able to be home for Christmas!! What great news!
I want to thank you for all of your visits and wish you and yours a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!
I do have a question if you could be so kind to answer. What exactly is Boxing Day and how did this tradition start? We do not have it here in the US and there was some debate between my hubby and son so I am curious.

    Hugs,
    Debbie

  17. Wow Lisa... you were BUSY for the holidays! All that baking alone would have done me in!

It must have been wonderful to have so many family members at Christmas and of course, especially your father.

The after Christmas bowling looks like it was a lot of fun. Will it become an annual event so that you can try to win back the pin?

    Happy New Year Lisa!

    Chris

  20. Lisa, I just got your message. (I need your email address!)

This is so shocking and very difficult to comprehend. She lived just four properties down the road from us. We're really hoping this is solved soon.

  26. Oh Lisa Sweetie...
What a wonderful time you all had. I love the tables and your home was so festive. Looks like you did some major cooking for this crew. I hope you got a little assistance in cooking it all, not just them eating it all. Ha! Ha!

A bowling family tournament. Now that would be a great idea for all the kids to do. I love the tip, thanks for that one. Looks like you all folks of all ages too.

Oh and sweetie I was so tickled to hear that your Daddy was able to be there as well. How wonderful to be released in time to be with family.

Many hugs to you sweet one. I can't wait to see what 2011 brings us. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  27. Hi Lisa,
Happy New Year! I am so glad that your Dad was able to be there for the Christmas celebrations. I am sure it would have lifted his spirits tremendously. Good times with family is always the best medicine! You certainly baked up a storm! The bowling tournament was a great idea and looks like it was a blast.
Taking photos of your garden sounds like fun. We will have to talk in spring. Jennifer

  28. Happy New Year, Lisa! You have been busy! I'm glad your Dad was able to be home for Christmas. We had my Dad at all our Christmas/New Year's family stuff (his first without Mom) and we now realize not to take it for granted. I still don't know why your comments come up anonymous all the time. Blogger baffles me sometimes.

We love going bowling when we visit my bil and sil in the Owen Sound area. Lots of laughs. Wishing you a great, if a bit snowy, week.
