THANKSGIVING FEAST - A Behind the Scenes Expose!

Hello Dear Blogland Friends.  Welcome to my world!

Your company arrives!  They're greeted at the door by the titillating scents wafting from the kitchen ~ turkey & cranberries, apples, cinnamon and pumpkin pie!  They look around with delight at the gorgeous table that has been set for them, where they are to enjoy their Thanksgiving Feast!  But what does it really take to get us to this place?

Dogs are Always Underfoot!
I am in the midst of preparing to entertain 17 of my dearest relatives on Thanksgiving Day!  I wanted to share a 'behind the scenes' look at the reality and work of trying to pull this off!  Some of the pictures may be disturbing.  Viewer discretion is advised!

Welcome to my own personal "Hell's Kitchen Nightmares"!

Notice the paintbrush on my counter?  Any DIYer will understand that their tools of the trade are normally scattered all about their homes!

There's my sideboard - holding all sorts of miscellaneous items for my party!

This is the CD I'm playing ~ wanted to test it before Halloween!  My Dollar Store Special.

Another staging area for my centrepieces ~ the Garage!

Hope you enjoyed the little behind the scenes sneak peek into my Thanksgiving preparations.  More to follow...
Stay tuned for the results!

  4. I love Thanksgiving, and it sounds like you will be bursting at the seams on Monday with all your company! What fun, and a ton of work, but well worth all the effort! We still have to wait till the 25 of November to enjoy all that turkey and mashed potatoes, :(
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, no stress to give gifts or shopping for weeks to find something just right etc. LOVE IT!!!

Have a blessed time with all your friends and family, I will be thinking about you on the 11th, and wishing I was enjoying a big fat turkey too!

    XO,
    Donna Lynn

  5. Happy Thanksgiving! What a fun look into your prep for the big day. I love the little ceramic pumpkins.
We have big gatherings too. (I'm one of 8 and hubby is one of 5 so we don't ever have a small gathering.) We are having our dinner today, Saturday, at my sister's home to accomodate out of town relatives. I blogged about it today, and shared some photos of my dining room Fall decor, since I don't have to mess it up to host dinner.

  8. The picture on my TV cabinet is one of those cheepy cardboard ones, I got it at Goodwill for a buck, brought it home and spray painted the super ugly frame black, I really love it now! I do that a lot, get old pictures and then fix um up, I must have 6 or 7 that I have done that too!

Wow, I need to get your email, I am clogging up your comment page.

BTW, I love the picture of your doggie with the stuffed toy, by your table...my Teddy always carries around his "baby"! It is so darling, I LOVE DOGS!!!!

  11. What a fun post! I love your sense of humor. I've got paintbrushes on my kitchen counter too! And dogs underfoot, trying to steal whatever I might have not put out of reach....like the tub of margarine I forgot and left on the counter a couple of days ago, but it's stuff like this that makes you giggle a little and puts a smile on your face. I hope your Thanksgiving is a wonderful and blessed event...worthy of all the prep you've put into it. ~Sheilla
P.S. Speaking of dogs and Thanksgiving...I just had to share, about two years ago my friends dogs stole their entire turkey...talk about a panic!

  14. It's so funny to see this because I am always thinking, in the heat of everything, "wait I have to take a picture for my blog." So on top of everything else we are always thinking about blogging, ha!

    Happy Thanksgiving!
