SAY A LITTLE PRAYER

My dear 78-year old Dad suffered a stroke a couple of years ago.  As a result, his balance had never been the same.  Friday night, while on his way into a restaurant for dinner with my Mum, he fell and shattered his hip!  After running various tests at the hospital to determine whether or not his heart and lungs were strong enough for surgery, he underwent a hip-replacement yesterday afternoon.  He came out of the surgery just fine as he is a tough old bird but the road ahead of him is going to be very long and difficult.  We already know he will not be home for Christmas and the only thing he repeats, over and over, is that he wants to go home!

I haven't had the opportunity to visit any of you and I'll be away for a short while.  I know you're all posting lovely photos of your beautiful homes, decorated for the holidays and probably some delicious recipes that I would love to add to my Christmas Goodies List!

Please keep my dear Dad in your thoughts and prayers in the next little while because I suspect he's going to need all the help he can get!

  4. I will keep your Dad, and you and his support team, in my prayers. My dad had a stroke several years ago too. Men often have the most difficult time being patients, and being in hospital or rehab over Christmas will be a challenge for him. Coming through hip surgery well is a really good sign that he will be back on his feet in no time. Take care of yourself, too.

  5. Hi Lisa,
I am so sorry about your Dad, I will definitely be
praying for him. I know it is so hard to be in the hospital especially at Christmastime. My father-in-law broke his hip earlier this year, too. I'm sure your Dad will pull through fine.
    Blessings,
    Janet

  6. So sorry to hear about your Dad, Lisa. I was with my father today at the hospital as he has been suffering with a sore back for the last couple of days. Turns out he has a small fracture in his back that is causing him pain associated with osteoporosis. My father too broke his hip about 3 yrs ago and was a tough ole bird like your Dad, he pulled through and I'm sure your Dad will be fine as well. Hugs and prayers to you and your family,
    Caroline

  7. So sorry to hear about your Dad. It would be difficult at any time but the holidays and upcoming winter months must make recovery harder. I'm happy to hear they were able to proceed with the hip replacement surgery. My 74 year old aunt had hip replacement last September after suffering for a few years with hip problems. She is fully recovered now and SWEARS she would have the other one done if need be! So that shows that the recovery can be hard but it was so obviously worth it to her that she would go through it again.

Thinking of you and your family and wishing you all the best outcome!

    Take care,
    Chris

  11. Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad! Hospitals are not the nicest places to spend the holidays and so it is understandable that he just want to go home. My thoughts are with you and I wish your Dad a speedy recovery.

  16. Love all the silver in your decor. I have added alot to my white this year. My dad fell and broke his hip last year (he is 87), he is back to his wonderful ol' self again and living with us now. We love having him here. He is such a blessing. I am praying that your Dad will recover just as quickly.

  18. This is the reason why I always remind my mom to be very careful not to fall or what. I've heard this unfortunate story from a friend of mine when her grandma broke her hips and could no longer be operated because her body won't allow it anymore. She was literally in pain the day it happened until her last breath. So sad.

I was really looking for some info about asr hip recall as part of my research work. Do you have any personal thoughts about this?
