Welcome to my Step-Daughter's house!
We were invited there this past weekend for dinner.
Lindsay and her husband live just around the corner and down the block from us. So convenient ~ especially for impromptu get-togethers!
They've been married almost 2 years now and purchased this house a few months before their wedding. Although Lindsay is not too interested in decorating trends or fads, she knew she wanted her first home to be stylish and she knew what she liked and disliked.
Lindsay & Mike Wedding - March 2009 |
I am thoroughly impressed with what she pulled off! The house is cozy and charming and has a sort of beachy feel to it!
I'm also impressed with what great hosts they've become, especially considering they are still a fairly young couple. It took me quite a few years to get my mojo on
and pull off entertaining with ease & confidence.
Ahhhh, but the son-in-law is quite saucy! They took home the trophy (my vintage bowling pin) after winning our family bowling tournament, held over the Christmas holidays! He made sure it was prominently displayed for our visit. Go ahead, rub it in ... but enjoy it while it's yours! Hubs and I plan on being a force to be reckoned with next time around!
I made dessert. Chocolate cupcakes (a light version with applesauce) ...
And rice pudding with raisins!
Served with whipped cream (made with the assistance of my KitchenAid of course)!
DELICIOUS!
Since I've started blogging, I take my camera with me EVERYWHERE and photograph EVERYTHING because each and every event in my life now has the
potential of becoming
ANOTHER BLOG POST!
You all know what I mean!
Have a great day!
Cheers - Lisa
Your step daughters home is great! It looks like you had a wonderful time. How nice to live so close to family. I need to get in the habit of carrying my camera with me.
ReplyDeleteYour stepdaughters home looks lovely and it looks like you had a fun evening. The rice pudding looks fabulous. I've been thinking of making some after recently having some at a local restaurant so now I may actually give it a try. :) ~Alana~
ReplyDeleteYour daughters house looks lovely...I do know what you mean about the camera but I just can't get in the habit..I think I spent so many of my early years (when the kids were young) behind the camera that now I want to enjoy the monment without it...
ReplyDeleteYour step daughters home looks like something I WOULD pick out... I'm really like the beachy kind of colors and feel too. It must be fun for you guys to have them so close by...
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what ya mean about the mojo... the first time we had "real" people over for dinner I made broccoli with cheese sauce, well it might as well been cheese soup with broccoli! Something always seemed to go a little awry!
~Chris
PS my camera is in my purse with me, ready at all times to take a picture of everything and anything...
I'm so impressed that you remember to bring your camera with you and actually remember to take pictures of the food before you eat it. I'm so bad at that! Also, I love her curtain tie backs!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful, sweet couple and cute home! It's so nice to live close to family. We lived across the street from my In Laws for years! And it was great!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful couple and how wonderful of them to be great hosts already. The house is lovely and the meal looks great. I love 2 desserts!! Isn't it fun to share on blogging when others have you over (and they love to see it posted too!)
ReplyDeleteWhen Randy and I first got married I thought our place looked good. But looking back, UGH! It did not look like this house! I must say, those curtain tie backs were really jumping out at me...Your food looks yummy as always!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Lisa
How lucky that they live so close... Great to learn to host... I still become a nervous nelly!
ReplyDeleteThe meal looks delicious! Pass the rice pudding please over this way...with a cupcake on the side...yummy....I like her colors in her home, restful and warm. Visit Mel's Cabin and enjoy a cup of coffee with me.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lovely! It must be so nice to have your family close. I sure hope that when my girls get married, they will live nearby.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Janet
